Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Unlistd and how we protect your personal data.

Data brokers are companies that collect personal information from public records, social media, purchase histories, and other sources, then package and sell that data to third parties. These third parties include marketers, advertisers, insurance companies, employers, landlords, and sometimes scammers. There are hundreds of data broker sites, and most people appear on dozens of them without their knowledge.

Unlistd scans 70+ live public broker sources for likely matches. We show scan evidence before removal work begins. After you subscribe, evidence-backed listings can enter the appropriate broker form or privacy-request workflow. We track broker responses and removal status over time.

Most data brokers process removal requests within 7-14 days, though some can take up to 45 days by law. After your initial scan, you'll start seeing removals confirmed within the first two weeks. A full sweep of all brokers typically completes within 30-60 days. Emergency mode (available on Pro and Elite plans) accelerates this process significantly by prioritizing your requests.

To effectively find and remove your data, we need your full name, email address, and any other information you'd like removed (such as phone numbers, addresses, or date of birth). The more information you provide, the more accurately we can identify your listings across broker sites. All information is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage.

Your personal information is encrypted at the application layer using AES-256-GCM before it ever touches our database. Encryption keys are derived per-user, meaning even our engineering team cannot access your raw data. We use Supabase Vault for secret management, enforce row-level security on all database tables, and are actively pursuing SOC 2 Type II certification.

Some data brokers re-collect information over time from public records and other sources. Active plans include quarterly rescans. When a public listing reappears with supporting evidence, it can enter removal work again.

Emergency Mode is available on Pro and Elite plans. It's designed for urgent situations like data breaches, doxxing, or stalking. When activated, your removal requests are moved to the front of the processing queue, immediate re-scans are triggered across all brokers, and our system works around the clock to get your data down as quickly as possible. Most critical listings are addressed within 48 hours.

The Elite plan includes family coverage for up to 5 people. Each family member gets their own data sheet and dashboard with scanning across 70+ live public broker sources. You manage billing from a single account, and each member can track their scan results and removal progress independently.

Unlistd currently scans 70+ live public broker sources, including well-known people-search services. Some protected sources cannot be scanned reliably and are labeled clearly. Removal work begins only for evidence-backed listings after subscription.

Yes. For every removal we complete, Unlistd captures a before-and-after screenshot as evidence. You can view these in your dashboard under each listing. Quarterly reports (available on Pro and Elite) compile all removal activity into a comprehensive summary.

Unlistd currently focuses on US-based data brokers, which make up the largest and most active market for personal data. If you're based outside the US but your data appears on US broker sites, our service will still work for you. We plan to expand to EU and other international brokers in the future.

All plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied with the service within the first 30 days, contact our support team for a full refund. After the 30-day window, you can cancel anytime and your plan will remain active through the end of your current billing period.

Manually opting out of data brokers is possible but time-consuming because each broker has a different process. Unlistd runs the scan, preserves match evidence, routes eligible listings into supported removal workflows after subscription, and tracks broker replies and rescans in one place.

API access is available exclusively on the Elite plan. It allows you to programmatically trigger scans, check removal status, and pull reports. This is useful for businesses building privacy features into their own products, or for power users who want to integrate Unlistd into their workflow. Full API documentation is provided upon subscription.

You can cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings page. After cancellation, your plan remains active through the end of the current billing period. We don't believe in making cancellation difficult. It's two clicks from your settings dashboard. You can also reach out to support if you need help.

When you cancel, your account remains accessible in read-only mode for 30 days so you can export any reports or screenshots. After 30 days, all your personal information is permanently deleted from our systems, including encrypted PII and scan history. We retain only anonymized, aggregated statistics for service improvement.
